Description
Late 19th-early 20th century, .900 silver and vermeil, each side of the the curved hinged case decorated with elaborate repousse, one side depicting a courtyard of figures surrounding a crest, the other side with a dragon swirling among clouds, the interior with a brilliant vermeil wash, and the whole strung with a short chain for carrying; marked inside "900/ WH" and with a calligraphic stamp. Wang Hing was the most prolific maker of export silver in the late 19th century, most notably as a provider of Chinese silver to Tiffany & Co. 3.5" H X 3" W X 0.75" D; chain: 25.5" L. Total weight approximately 4 troy ounces. Old elastic bands to interior have become stiff; occasional rubbing to highest surface details, most surface details intact.
