Description
This small jade sculpture, a sea maiden or mermaid riding a pixiu, is most likely from the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644 ce) or early Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1912 ce). The sculpture is 5-7/8 inches tall, 1-1/2 inches wide, and 6-1/4 inches long.
Condition
The sculpture is sound with no noted defects. The nephrite exhibits surface alteration from age and lustrous waxy patina from professional restoration. From a private collection, this artifact is clean, however will be sold without further restoration (as is).
