1. The Iroquois , or , The Bright Side of Indian Character by Minnie Myrtle published in NY by D. Appleton and Company 1855This book is considered to be culturally important to understanding early European immigrant’s attitudes and perceptions of the people of the Iroquois Nation during the early years of our nation. Embossed chocolate brown cloth cover, sea foam gram inside boards, fronts piece illustration as well as a list of illustrations after the contents page. This is a sewn binding done in good quality that has lasted over 160 years. 317 pages of text including the appendices with an additional 9 pages of publisher's advertising in the back. Condition: Spine is intact with rubbing wear on top and bottom, a 1 in worn to thread area appears on the mid point of the back board attachment to spine. Gold embossing and cover color has faded with time. All pages are intact , some of the early pages have loosened with the relaxation of cotton thread used to sew binding. Stay marks and small numbers in pencil are found on inner board and cover page. 5 in by 7 1/2 in2. This is a work of the man's heart through art and has been preserved well through time, with it's delicate yellow brown and black Jacket intact. A photo of the author in sepia tones serves as the fronts piece and his " mark" is reproduced as part of his author credit alongside his name. Jacket has wear and rubbing on corners, very light handling marks and a 3/4 in tear at spine crease on bottom front. Book is in Excellent Condition, appear as new, no known issues. 5 1/8 in by 7 inches3. The Wolf Song by Ralph Hubbard, 1935 Doubleday, Doran & Company Inc Garden City , NY Illustrated by Langdon KihnSigned by the Author on the inner Cover Page. Told in 287 pages this is a charming story written for young readers about the daily life of a family of Kiowa Indians, it deals with polygamy, infanticide, homelessness, and a search for sense of self through understanding ones roots. The author Ralph Hubbard was a special instructor regarding Indian lore for the Boy Scouts of America and may have based some of his characters on individuals known to be from the Blackfeet Tribe. Condition: Dust Jacket intact, colors still bold, wear and rubbing on all corners and edges, 1 in tear on spine crease top front of jacket. Crimson red cloth cover stitch bound and on thick youth quality rough cut pages the book is in excellent condition , inscribed and signed on the inner cover by the author with no other issues. 5 3/4 in x 8 1/8 in4. Wanamaker Primer on the North American Indian, HIAWATHA Produced in Life Part of the Wanamaker- Originator line of books. Two stories in one binding, one a general education on " Indians" and one a tale particular to Hiawatha. Copyright 1909 , as listed on the inside of the front cover board. 65 pages of primary instruction about " the vanishing race, the North American Indian" full of reproduced black and white photos as well as some hand drawn illustrations. The cover is of grey blue boards with brown print and the inner pages are glossy with ink that remains bold. While all pages remain intact and bound the spine is worn down to it's cloth cover and should be handled with care. 5 1/4 in by 7 3/4 in wolf 5 3/4 x 8 1/8
