Description
Very nice example of an antique pill machine, often mistaken as a pill roller. Constructed of wood and a grooved corrugated brass mechanism. A Pharmacist would slide the top paddle/roller over the matching base, cutting it into a paste, dough-like medicinal mixture representing a tube. The medicinal tubes were then placed on a pill tile, cut and measured with a pill knife to the size that would provide the proper dosage. Approximate Measurements: Lg. Roller - 16" L x 3" W, Sm. Roller - 13" L x 2 1/2" W, Board - 12" L x 7 1/4" W. Condition: Consistent with age and use. Small paddle is marked with VIIII scratched into the underside.
