Description
A nice Hellenistic core-formed alabastron, Eastern Mediterranean, c. 4th - 3rd Century BC, in black glass, with cylindrical body and rounded base, short neck and flattened and splayed rim, the shoulders with twin pierced ring handles with descending trails. The body with tightly placed opaque turquoise, yellow and white concentric marvered bands which have been combed into a zigzag pattern on the lower 2/3rds of the vessel, yellow and white concentric bands adorn the outer edge of the rim. H: 6 5/8 in (16.8 cm). An attractive example with old collection label. Ex Malter Auctions, (Feb 1978), Lot 217.
