This plan is laid down from a scale of eighty rods to an inch/ the lots above 35 contain 85 acres each the lots under 35 contain 100 acres. Bradford is 80 miles from Boston and 28 miles from Amherst. The land was first settled in 1771 by the family of William Presbury. For 3 years they lived there alone, but were then jointed by several settlers from Beford, MA (giving the town its two earlier names, “New Bedford” and “Bedfordton”). Incorporated Sep. 26, 1787 (9 days after the Constitutional Convention voted to send the Constitution to the states). From a populiation of 1285 in 1830, it declined to 950 as of 1880. Sheet 15 ½ x 28 ¾ on contemp linen backing with roller.
