Description
An unusual Dietz model that has "Dietz #8" embossed in fancy lettering in the vent area. This model has a two piece wire bottom assembly where a cup rests into a specific pin point on the edge of the frame and a lower piece with the tank is threaded and then mounts into the cup. You should not work the threads while the pin is engaged, it's too easy to break the tiny pin. The tank is threaded and comes off the base easily. The lid latch is a clever restoration that works really well. It's just a simple spring flip. You can see where the old retainer and spring clip were originally mounted under the lid.
The globe is a very nice free blown model that measures: 4 3/4" visible (not including extended base), 2 5/8" base diameter, 2 1/4" top diameter. The globe has no further markings. This is not your run-of-the-mill conductor lantern.
