Description
An unusual Dietz model that has a hold-over look from when Steam Gauge produced this "mushroom top" conductor lantern. The R. E. Dietz marking is sought after by lantern collectors. This lantern clearly has a "8" stamped under the tank. In addition to the distinctive top the bail retaining tabs on the lid and 1/2 round plates. It also has a serrated edge on the tank assembly. This version has a single piece tank that is secured by threads. The tank is threaded and comes off the base easily.
The globe is a very nice free blown model that measures: 4 1/2" visible (not including extended base), 2 3/4" base diameter, 2 1/8" top diameter. It has an unusual wreath that is more geometric than the typical floral designs you see often. In Old English lettering it has "Danie F. Heywood" I may be wrong about the name.
