oil on canvas (lined), unsigned, the stretcher with impressed stamp "W. Morrill / Liner," presented in a period appropriate gilt composition frame.
SS 19.25 x 23.25 in.; DOA 24 x 27.5 in.
William Morrill took over his father's picture lining business in 1866, working extensively for the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Collection, and other prominent collectors. In 1899 he was succeeded in the business by his own son. This painting was likely lined by Morrill circa 1870.
