Description
GERMAN METTLACH CERAMIC STEIN, with polychrome decoration and varying colors of clay on a brown ground sprig-molded on the sides including wheat and hops designs, "Ein guter Grund / Will keinen Schund" opposite the handle, an inlaid ceramic lid within a metal mount having a molded figural thumb rest. Impressed mark on base with "METTLACH / VB" below a building and "GES. GESCH / 1737". 1885-1930. 14 5/8" H.
