AMERICAN PATRIOTIC TOILE / COPPERPLATE-PRINTED FRAGMENT, bust-portrait, depicting "JAMES MADISON / PRESIDENT FROM 1809-1817", from "Les Presidents des Etats Unis", French textile produced for the American market. Retains a hand-written note/receipt attached verso from David and Linda Arman, Danville, VA, dated "10-27-77", and a Garth's collection sticker from the Tom & Carolyn Porter sale. Housed under glass in a 19th-century frame. Circa 1829. 5 3/4" SQ sight, 8" SQ overall.
Minor scattered areas of staining/discoloration. Frame with minor wear, losses, and old repair. Not examined out of frame.
