Millefiori
Millefiori glass and glass beads have been renowned and sought after for centuries. These ‘thousands of flowers’ were used as a payment method before they were forgotten until the 19th century when they were rediscovered and revived. The colorful flower design is now known as the most famous Murano pattern. The technique works as follows: tiny set-ups of colored canes or rods that have been fused together are pulled apart several feet. After that the rods are only a few millimeters thick. They are bundled in iron rings and overlaid with glass so that the pattern looks like seeing it under a magnifying glass. The canes may be densely packed together, scattered, or arranged in specific patterns.
Condition:
The vase is in a very good condition. The height measures 55.2 cm. (nlu)
