Account of the trials of Francis Smith and Jane Curtis for libel, prosecuted by Roger L'Estrange who, as Licenser of the Press and Surveyor of the Imprimery, was charged with the prevention of the publication of dissenting writings. "Tom Ticklefoot" was a satire on the trial of Sir George Wakeman (falsely accused in the "Popish Plot") before Judge Scroggs. A significant document in the slow march towards freedom of the press and liberty that would play a vital part in the American quest for independence nearly a hundred years later.
