Item Details
Description
Terracotta with painting. China, Wei Dynasty (5th to 6th cent.)
A rare group with four smaller figures from a royal court, all in original condition. The faces are varied and spiritedly designed – the musicians are concentrated on their performance, the courtiers are amused. All wear floor-length garments; the outer robes are respectively belted; head coverings are different. A musician holds a drum gu while another blows into a mouth organ sheng. One figure could have been the carrier of a kind of stand; the once inserted wooden shafts are now missing due to age (also a drum stick). The especially slender figure, which holds a ceremonial staff in front of him, may have had a special status. 音樂士,臣僕立åƒå½©ç¹ªé™¶ä¿‘。中國,éæœã€‚高 19.5至21.2 厘米。
