Description
Greece, early Christian period, ca. 200 CE. This is a small silver plaque with a hammered design, likely used to decorate a small personal item belonging to someone wealthy. The design shows a small temple with two columns and a simple cross atop it; inside the temple is an inscription: "???? ????? S???d a????" which includes the names "Attila" and "Paul" and may reference ownership. Paul may also be a reference to St Paul, who founded Christianity in Greece at Thessaloniki in 125 CE.
