Description
After Albin Polasek (Czech-American, 1879-1965), "Man Carving His Own Destiny"-1907, bronze. A 20th century cast stone with black enamel figural sculpture after the original by Albin Polasek, depicting a brawny man with intense expression, whose form is partially imbedded in stone, attempting to chisel his way free from the rock that entombs him. Overall approximately 43.25" x 23" x 15". Note: "Man Carving His Own Destiny" is known to have been self-referential in the sense that the artist lost complete use of his left side due to paralysis shortly after completely the work.
