DESCRIPTION: Ladislas Segy (American, 1904-1988). Copper tack and wooden sculpture. "#509 Segy" on reverse in ink. PROVENANCE: Gift from Artist to Saul and Florence Putterman. From the Saul and Florence Putterman Collection, Sarasota, Florida. Saul Putterman, founder of apparel and fashion manufacturing enterprises in New York, Florida, and Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, where he also served on the Board of Trustees at Susquehanna University. Florence Putterman is a highly regarded artist and teacher, a noted printmaker, painter and sculptor, with work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the Chicago Art Institute. The Puttermans are active humanitarians and philanthropists who collected fine modern and contemporary art, and tribal art during their lives. MEASUREMENTS: 9" x 9"" x 1-3/4". CONDITION: Minor wear to surface of wood consistent with handling.
