Early 18th C. German Hand-Forged Solid Sterling Silver Hinged Box W/Cherub Designs & Vermeil Interior - This beautiful piece is an oval shaped, hinged box made of solid sterling silver, circa early 18th C. The top of the box is ordained with three cherubs, one with butterfly wings and the other two with bird wings. A butterfly watches over the cherubs in the right corner, and the sides are covered with hand-chased, flower and horn motif. The interior of the box is gold vermeil. On the bottom of the box are three hallmarks, one of which is the letter "T" crossing the letter "S" inside the shield design border, dating the piece to 1700-1744. The piece also has the Aachen City eagle mark. The piece has been very well kept, and is in excellent condition for its age. Measures7"W x 2"H x 4"D. (331.6 grams)
