JAPANESE PORCELAIN COVERED BASIN - Rare Kutani Washing Basin with matching cover, Meiji, the basin tapered, the top domed with standing rim to invert as a foot, having bold decoration of blossoming branches set into red oxide frames with overlaid geometric blossom patterns, bamboo fronds, the rims and edges with a Greek key pattern, gilding, 9 1/2" tall, 14 1/2" diam. Very good condition, some loss to gilding. Brought back from the Far East by a Searsport, Maine seafarer.
