Description
This cane or walking stick is topped with a bulbous brass topper that is set with a celluloid depiction of President McKinley from his campaign. The picture is surrounded by a red, white, and blue circular frame. The bottom of the cane is capped with copper.

Condition: Patination to the metals, wobbling of the celluloid within its casing, and small amounts of rubbing to the wood.
History: McKinley was the last president to have served in the Civil War, entering office in 1897 and serving until his assassination in 1901, shortly after beginning his second term. Though he was a much beloved man whose insistence on public speeches invariably gave his assassin an opportune time to strike, much of his legacy was overshadowed by the sheer energy and charisma of his Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt, who assume office after McKinley's wounds became gangrenous and killed him.
