History: Grover Cleveland is the only president in American history to have served two nonconsecutive terms. He won the 1884 election, but subsequently lost the 1888 election to Benjamin Harrison. His return to private citizenship was short lived, as in 1892 he and his wife returned to the White House for his second term.
