History: In the mid 1700s, Hester Bateman inherited her husband's silversmithing profession after his death from Tuberculosis. She was an uneducated woman in a time when women had a terrible lot to begin with and still she carried her husband's craftsmanship well after his death, making a name for her entire family line with the quality of her smithing.
