MANHATTAN BRASS CO. SINGLE-ARM STUDENT LAMP, opaque white umbrella-form shade with polychrome floral decoration, brass with nickel-plate finish, adjustable on central shaft which terminates to a ring, vertical cylinder-form reservoir, circular weighted foot. Fitted with a period Argand burner, shade ring impressed "MANHATTAN BRASS CO. N.Y. PAT'D MAY 23 76 - DEC 25 77 - MAY 20. 79". Circa 1879. 22 3/4" HOA, 11 3/4" WOA. Shade 5 3/8" H, 7" D fitter.
Very good overall condition, some components with significant wear to nickel-plate finish, scattered light denting, reservoir with a hole over arm juncture which is probably as made, shade fitter with expected minute flakes/roughness. Burner undamaged.
