4 volumes. xii, 402; [iv], 512; [iv], 513-920; [iv], 420, [1] pp. 31 copper-engraved plates, including one folding and one hand-colored. (8vo) 21.5x13.5 cm (8½x5¼"), bound in period calf with raised spine bands, gilt lettering and numbers. Third Edition (stated).

The first complete scientific description of British plants in the English language. First published in two volumes in 1776 and expanded several times. This is the last edition published in the author's lifetime and considered by some to be the best edition.

Condition

Wear and soiling to leather, rubbing to extremities, leather worn away at some corners; description of set probably cut from an auction catalog affixed to front paste-down page, pencil notes on front free endpaper occasional browning and light foxing, some darkening to text block; very good.
