Description
A suite of 1909 Inauguration items comprising: 1.) Printed 1 page small, 4to, invitation with integral leaf and engraved portraits of Taft and Sherman with tissue guards. Accompanied by conforming envelope imprinted "United States Senate" at top left, and "Inaugural Platform" at bottom right with rubber stamp number at top right "1065." 2.) Printed 8vo 8 page, program with card stock wrappers bearing the federal seal on front with legend "Inauguration Ceremonies / March 4, 1909," and an engraved vignette of the Capitol Building on back. 3.) 32mo blue card stock ticket imprinted "Inauguration Ceremonies / March Fourth, 1909. / This will admit the Bearer to Platform A, outside of, and on the Senate Side, But will not admit to the Capitol Buliding..." Accompanied a small conforming folder imprinted "The inclosed [sic] ticket does not admit / to the Capitol Building." With a small envelope imprinted "United States Senate" in to which the ticket and folder are contained.
Condition
Light toning with smudges and soiling on largest envelope, otherwise near mint. Dimensions: Largest (invitation envelope) - 6.75 " H x 10.25 " W. Smallest (ticket) - 2.87 " H x 4.25 " W.
