Description
Comprises 1.) Silk red, white, blue, and black stevengraph ribbon. Features Harrison in a bust length, 3/4 profile, pose at top with federal eagle and U.S. flags immediately below. Bears White House vignette at bottom. Text relates "Benjamin Harrison / Republican Candidate / For President 1892." Retains pointed bottom with blue silk thread tassel. 2.) Yellow tint celluloid ribbon with applied circular albumen portrait of Harrison. Bears silver-tone imprint of an eagle and the text "Our Leader / To Victory." 3.) One page, 8vo, autograph letter signed "Whitelaw Reid," on New York Tribune stationery, New York, N.Y., March 2, 1880. Addressed to "Wm. J. Gable," Reid answers a biographical query concerning a Mr. Taylor of Boston. 4.) Two diminutive printed advertising cards. One bears map of the U.S. with imprint "Protection to American Industries." Verso, titled at top "Republican Souvenir Badge," contains a list of various presidents' popularity with soldiers.The second card bears jugate portraits and imprint "Compliments of W.D. Fox, Hatter & Furnisher...New London, Conn."
Condition
Celluloid ribbon bears multiple pin holes and scuffs. Stevengraph ribbon bears toning and stains. Other items clean and in good condition. Dimensions: Largest (a.l.s.) - 8.12 " H x 5.00 " W. Smallest (map card) - 1.75 " H x 1.37 " W.
