Description
VIRGINIA "LOG CABIN" PIECED QUILT, cotton, comprising 56 square blocks, positioned to create larger diamond pattern of alternating light and dark; backing in an apple printed fabric and self binding; hand quilted in straight lines using both natural and black colored thread. Registered with the Virginia Quilt Project, label stitched on back with the date, "June 13, 1988/ Registration number AB-1". Made by Anna Maria Adams Hall (1856-1942), Northumberland Co., Virginia. Circa 1880. 78" x 92".
Good condition, several areas of fabric deterioration, minor spotting, some staining.

Exhibited: Virginia Historical Society, Richmond, Summer 2006.
Provenance: Property of Susan Aasen McGregor.
By descent from her mother Margaret Moon Hall, granddaughter of the maker.
