Description
Ancient Near East, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. This is a group of 10 rings that have become cemented together by the effects of the elements in the bronze alloy breaking down with exposure to oxygen and contaminants in the soil in which they were buried. They were probably buried in a tomb as grave jewelry or an offering. Size: 7.8" L x 3.3" W (19.8 cm x 8.4 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
