Japan, Edo period, ca. 18th to 19th century. Rare and quite exquisite pair of Japanese sword menuke. These are the decorative elements found under the Ito (hilt wrapping) on Samurai swords of all varieties. Cast bronze in the form of a warrior's helmet complete with gilded decorative dragon heads and long detailed neck guards. Lovely! Custom stand. Size: 1.375" W (3.5 cm)
