Fine bronze gilded and red lacquered Kaji Kabuto helm from the early Meiji period 1868 - 1912. Red lacquer with bronze decoration and side plates, the interior signed.
Japanese firefighters wore heavy, multi-layer jackets, trousers, hats, gloves, and sock-like footwear. The clothing was soaked in water before the firefighters started their mission to prevent burns and was not flame proof in construction without the water. 12 1/2" L x 12" W x 6" H
