THURSTON HOWARD: (1869-1936) American Magician. A good vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 9 photograph of Thurston in a half length pose. Photograph by Baker Art Gallery. Signed in bold fountain pen ink to a clear area of the background and dated 28th March 1921 in his hand. Matted in green alongside a modern colour postcard promoting Thurston. Framed and glazed in a wooden frame to an overall size of 16 x 13. Together with John Nevil Maskelyne (1839-1917) English Stage Magician. A.L.S., J. N. Maskelyne, two pages, 8vo, London, 4th May 1894, to Mrs. Marrable, on his personal printed stationery from The Egyptian Hall. Maskelyne states that he has made some enquiries regarding a letter to his correspondent, informing her 'my attendants state that no letter has been refused by them, addressed to you' and continuing 'I think the postman must have taken it to the Drawing Room and Mr. Roberts refused it'.
