Description
ALEIXANDRE VICENTE: (1898-1984) Spanish Poet, Nobel Prize winner for Literature, 1977. A.L.S., Vicente Aleixandre, one page (onion skin paper), 4to, Madrid, 26th January 1960, to Horacio E. Ratti, in Spanish. Aleixandre declares 'This morning, as I was re-reading your “Discovery of Heaven” I realised that I had not thanked you for your beautiful present' and continues 'I'm always glad to receive your news, about your life and your work, but this time even more so. And this “long piece of news” of yours was a lyrical inquiry, of beautiful prose and heightened spirit. One might say, a contemplation of life, searching for its everlasting essence, from a fifty year old eye….So here go my thanks, with the satisfaction of seeing your work bear fruit (and bloom) and, as we say in my country, to wish you that “long may this be so” '. Two file holes to the left edge, not affecting the text or signature, VG
