A LARGE CHINESE LONGQUAN CELADON CHARGER
Prob. HongWu Reign Period of Ming Dynasty (1368-1398)
The large dish is heavily potted with flaring, slightly rounded sides. The central interior is carved with striding dragon below a band of scrolling pattern on the well. The charger characterized with band of sprigging, application of small low-relief, mould-case unglazed flower ornaments onto the everted rim, revealed the orange-reddish burnt in the firing. The dish is covered overall with a glaze of olive-green color, except for a wide unglazed ring on the base, which has burnt orange brown in the firing.
