Description
A rare Belleek part glazed parian pottery figure of Erin, 3rd Quarter of the 19th century. The figure represents Erin unveiling her first ceramic production. The plinth on which the urn rests, reads "Belleek Pottery". The base of the figure represents the Flagstones of the Falls on which the Pottery is built and from which the town and the products of the Pottery derive their name. The design depicts a beautiful lady "Erin" representing Ireland and she is unveiling a vase representing Belleek Pottery. Signed underfoot with an early 1st period impressed wolfhound, tower and harp mark. Measures 17" high, 10.75" wide, 9.5" deep.
CONDITION NOTES: partial finger missing from hand, and missing wheel at left of urn, factory hairline running through the middle of the base, and line at the base of her gown, see photos.
