Description
Pre-Columbian, Nazca culture, Peru South Coast, ca. 100 to 400 CE. This is a polychrome pottery drinking vessel with a face with a three-dimensional nose near the base, and a gently rounded base, made to be buried in sand. The body of the jar features geometric designs and the decapitated heads of captured warriors -- instantly recognizable as Nazca for its bold lines and strong colors. In fact, Nazca pottery has the widest range of colors found in any pre-Columbian pottery! Size: 5.25" W x 7" H (13.3 cm x 17.8 cm)
