AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART GENRE PAINTING, oil on canvas, a finely detailed scene, depicting a young mother surrounded by three children, two at play and one writing at a table, laughing at what appears be an African-American servant boy spilling a tray of apples as he walks into the room, set in a richly appointed interior parlor featuring patterned carpet, period lighting and furniture, and framed engraved portraits (one likely Washington) on the walls, no signature located, on original stretchers, canvas stamped verso for "W. Schaus / Print Seller & / Artists Colorman. / 749 Broadway / New-York". Unframed. Circa 1855. 10" x 18" object.
