EZEKIEL REED (B.1744), BRIDGEWATER, MASSACHUSETTS CARVED TIGER MAPLE TALL-CASE CLOCK, 30-hour wooden works with original engraved brass dial signed "Ezekiel Reed / Bridgewater / No. 49", hood featuring broken-arch pediment with stepped, cove-molded cornice and carved rosette terminals, over an arched tombstone door flanked by full fluted columns surmounted with projecting molded capitals, possibly original brass finials (one with broken screw post), set into square plinths; the case featuring hinged door with arched tombstone upper edge, flanked by fluted pilasters, above a base with carved radiating shell-like device raised on a bold cut-out bracket-foot base, old label attached inside door "Repaired and refinished / by H. H. Parkhurst / Amherst, N. H. / 1914". Poplar secondary wood. Retains an old surface with mellow color. Late 18th century. 88" HOA.
Hinges to hood and case doors probably replaced. Backboard possibly replaced. Scattered minor surface wear to case and dial. Unknown working condition.
