Description
A 20th century Navajo wool woven regional rug attributed to the Red Mesa area with central stepped geometric medallion flanked by serrated colorful elements, prominent lazy lines, scattered sawtooth and zig-zag motif in colors of yellow, orange. brown, black, red and blue on off-white field and having four corner tassels. Measures approximately 65" x 43.5".Provenance: From the Estate of Vice Admiral Hugh Goodwin and Mrs. Eleanor Welty Goodwin thence by descent to their daughter, Sidney Mary Goodwin and her husband, Mr. George Marshall Brown of Georgia.
Condition
Minor soiling and pulls to thread overall, typical with age and use. Minor fading to several of lime green/chartreuse sawtooth squares on one end of one side, otherwise colors are bright overall. Some fuzz stuck to surface. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
