Harris G Strong (1920-2006) was an American artist from Waukesha, Wisconsin. After serving as a cryptographer in WWII and graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in chemical engineering, he studied ceramic art at New York University. Always a hard worker, Harris owned his first business, a bicycle shop, when he was 14. His aunt, Henrietta “Brownie” Strong, an artist who owned her own greeting card company, inspired him to be an artist, but also to be practical about the need to earn a living. Forging his own path down the middle, Harris started a company called The Potters of Wall Street, making pottery in New York. Later he and his wife founded Harris G. Strong, Inc., in the Bronx. Through innovative design and serendipity, he soon found success making hand-designed ceramic tiles. Later in life, he concentrated on other forms of wall décor, including prints, serigraphs, woodcuts, etchings, engravings, and paintings.
