Harald Buchrucker (German, 1897-1985)
With the assistance of his friend and Stuttgarter Secessionist Wilhelm Blutbacher, Harald Buchrucker opened the Swabian tin and silver workshop in 1931. From its first year, the workshop presented hand forged designs at important fairs. Buckrucker and Blutbacher primarily experimented with constructivist forms in pewter and silver jewelry as well as copper. The workshop was recognized with several awards, including an honorary certificate at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris and a medal at the First International Crafts Exhibition in Berlin in 1938. After the war tin was less available, and their preferred metals shifted. In 1954, the workshop was renamed after Harald Buchrucker. In 1958 the firm was awarded the World Exhibition in Brussels. The early repertoire of the Buchrucker workshop was greatly affected by the close proximity of the Applied Arts in Stuttgart as well as the Bauhaus school.
