Karima Muyaes (Mexican, b.1960). "El Guitarrista". Color reduction linocut. 1992. Signed, dated, editoned, and titled, lower margin. An artist proof from the unknown edition. Cream wove paper. Wide margins. Very fine impression with heavy ink application. Good to very good condition. Provenance: Private collection, Bordeaux, France, acquired directly from the artist. A listed artist, Muyaes is currently one of the most innovative and talented international painters/printmakers. Her work has sold at Sotheby's (New York City), Swann Galleries (New York City), Martin Gordon Auctions (Phoenix), Louis C. Morton (Mexico City), and Casa de Subastas Odalys (Madrid/Caracas). In April of 2013 she was chosen as one of the top 34 currently active Mexican artists and featured in a series of articles in the prestigious Mexican newspaper "Milenio" as well as TV appearances. She was honored with an exhibition at the renowned Alliance Francaise, Mexico City, October 3 to October 30, 2013.
