Description
This is an excellent set of early Crow Native American Indian beaded and polychrome painted warrior leggings or chaps. Provenance: These come from a very large private collection of Early Native American artifacts from Wyoming and were collected by the owners mother in circa 1933. The leggings shows Indian tanned hide construction with glass trade seed beadwork framing the edge and showing three exceptional symbols all in chalk white, red, greasy yellow, and green. The leggings show mineral ocher yellow, red and blue painted accents. The entire edge shows a long cut fringe. One leg shows a hole in the knee area, but otherwise these are well preserved pieces. These measures 43"L x 27"W. Each leg is 12"W at the base and 14.5"W at the top.
