Description: Pierot playing mandolin standing on bronze base with brilliantly carved face of ivory. Signed P. Tereszczuck.(Austrian 1825 - 1925). The stand is inscribed, "P. Terescz". Is stamped on bottom,. "MADE IN AUSTRIA".


History: Peter Tereszczuk was born in 1875 in the Ukrainian city Wybudow. He crafted most of his works, which stylistically correspond to the Art Nouveau period, during 1895 and 1925 in Vienna, where he also spent most of his life time. Tereszczuk mainly produced bronze sculptures, sometimes featuring very delicate ivory elements, and small figural art works such as inkwells or other desktop items. He is a typical Art Nouveau and later Art Déco artist.
