Description: Represents the wisdom and realization of all Buddhas, sitting in the lotus position with styling to the crown and jewelry. The hands display the harina and jnana mudras of the lion and wisdom respectively, a lotus stem behind. Seated on a double lotus blossom flanked by arm ribbons which also lend support to the piece.
History: Manjusri is a bodhisattva associated with prajna (transcendent wisdom) in Mahayana Buddhism. In Tibetan Buddhism, he is also a yidam. His name means "Gentle Glory" in Sanskrit. Manjusri is also known by the fuller name of Manjusrikumarabhuta, literally "Manjusri, Still a Youth" or, less literally, "Prince Manjusri".
