Description
An antique Korean Choson or Joseon dynasty embroidered silk rank badge for civil officials. Circa the late 19th century. The items are roughly square and created for a civilian official of first to third rank. Each features two white cranes grasping a red bag in beak. In Korea, various animals were used to designate rank, and the motifs evolved throughout the Joseon dynasty. In 1871 the insignia were standardized to tigers for military officials and cranes for civil officials. Antique and Vintage Badges, Patches, And Insignia For Collectors.
