BRIGITTE HANF EMBOSSED FIGURATIVE LITHOGRPAH: The deeply embossed lithograph stares with an intensity reminiscent of Willem de Kooning on color choice and violent choice of color and line, titled ‘Man Sitting II;’ Numbered 11 of 50 examples, signed and titled in the margins, 28”h x 22”w. Artist Brigitte Hanf Illustrated the 1968 first edition translation of ‘Beowulf.’ translated by Kevin Crossley-Holland. 1974 ‘A Bestiary,’ Hanf’s linocuts combined with John Fillers poems, released an as open edition and limited and numbered edition. PROVENANCE: Frederic C. 'Fritz' Wallace (1904 – 2014, Germany, America) was born in Munich, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1938 and served with the Army for three years in the ‘European Theater of Operations’ (ETO). He traveled extensively throughout the globe, collecting with an extremely educated focus and uncommon eye. Truly devoted to research for his collection, Mr. Wallace ensured that he purchased the rarest of interested items in only the best of condition. A fortunate Realtor and Developer, he lived in Sarasota, where he was a patron of the arts and served for many years on the Board of Directors at the historic Asolo Repertory Theatre.
