AN ALBUM FEATURING HISTORICAL, ETHNOGRAPHIC, AND BOTANICAL DRAWINGS AND ETCHINGS, END OF 18TH-EARLY 19TH CENTURY
a compilation of numerous artworks depicting historical city views, royalty, ethnic composition of Imperial Russia, and botanical observations. Author unknown. Late 18th - early 19th century. 72 pages. Original half Morocco binding with embossed gilt titles on spine. Featuring the following illustrations:

a) A rare original watercolor drawing of the view of Moscow the 18th century in the area of Kitai-Gorod with the Kremlin in the background (22 x 35.2 cm);

b) 40 hand painted ethnographic etchings from Johann Gottlieb Georgi`s BESCHREIBUNG ALLER NATIONEN DES RUSSISCHEN REICHS [Description of all Nations Living in Russia], Saint Petersburg, 1776 - 1780;

c) 20 original watercolor botanical drawings depicting blossoms of various plants, inscribed with titles in Latin and English, some dated (1790s), smallest: 21.2 x 17.5 cm; largest: 34 x 23.8 cm;

d) 3 lithographic portraits: Alexander I (published in London by Colnaghi and Co in 1814), caricature of Napoleon Bonaparte (color lithograph), caricature of Maria Louisa (published in London by J. Knight in 1813);

e) 2 watercolor drawings on grey paper depicting The Destruction of Both Houses of English Parliament, as seen from the Surrey side and from Abingdon on the night of the 16th Oct. 1834, (signed EC, dated 1835, 13 x 18.5 cm)
