Description
(1912-1977) German-American rocket pioneer who began his career developing the V-1 and V-2 rockets used by the Nazis, and after his arrival in the U.S. was largely responsible for the Redstone and Saturn rockets, and for the success of NASA as a whole. A 5.5 x 4.5 in. off-white album page bearing a pencil sketch of a simple rocket in flight which closely resembles a V-2. von Braun inscribes the drawing, adding the Latin phrase 'Per aspera ad astra" ('Our aspirations take us to the stars') and signs beneath the quote. The ink is very faded but legible, worthy of restoration. With RR Auction COA. Estimated accordingly.
