John Coney circa 1685 reproduction sterling silver 5-pc. coffee & tea set, including: coffee pot (9 1/2 in. H.), teapot, covered sugar bowl, cream pitcher and waste bowl, ebonized wood handles, 76.15 ozt t.w.; John Coney (5 January 1655 – 20 August 1722) was an early American silversmith and goldsmith from Boston, Massachusetts. He specialized in engraving. From the 1690s on, Coney was considered the most important Bostonian silversmith of his day. He was the apprentice of and later brother-in-law to Jeremiah Dummer, the first American-born silversmith. Coney also designed a version of the seal of Harvard College.
