AN AFRICAN TRIBAL BAKONGO CARVED ANTLER PIPE, THIRD QUARTER 20TH CENTURY, of natural curved form and sides centering stylized geometric patterns continuing to a tapering circular bowl with a detailed facial mask in shallow relief, the base impress stamped, "288." Length: 19" NOTE: This pipe was purchased in Durban, South Africa, during one of the trips taken there by the Seldens in the 1950's or 1960's.
Condition
Good condition, light normal wear, a little dry, normal buildup in crevices, with small age cracks. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
